‘PANNING FOR GOLD’ is an original abstract painting derived from my thoughts and experiences of flying over the extraordinary Australian landscape. A vast, ancient country, richly abundant in both mineral resources and timeless origin.
The tonal variations of an earthy colour palette, used in a layered and textural way reveal extensive mark-making depicting movement, excavation and the scars of time.
This mixed media artwork on canvas is unframed as the design continues over all profile edges. Created using artist quality materials, with some collaged components of gold leaf, along with striped black and white paper. The latter inclusion hints at airport runway markers.
